28

My baby boy turned 28 on 14th of August. As usual, we went to Sage for his birthday dinner.

Le menu

Complimentary bread

Dip

Amuse bouche: Smoked trout with potato & leek emulsion

I am not a fan of smoked fish. I like my food thoroughly cooked. But this was so damn good I had to make an exception.

Chef's Special of The Day

Well actually the Special of The Day was King Prawn with something in rice wine. Since they could not prepare the prawn without the wine, they replaced it with this rocket salad.

Comsomme of Wagyu beef with seasonal mushrooms

Okay remember I said earlier that I like my food thoroughly cooked? Well, I am pretty sure that this wagyu beef was not. In fact, I don't think that it was even cooked at all T_T

The waiter then poured the piping hot consomme (soup) over it and it became this:

So I guess the meat is 'cooked' by the hot broth. See how some parts of the meat have turned a lighter colour while some parts remain red/raw?

I swear I wanted to puke.

Still, I forced myself to at least take a sip. I was going to pay RM60 bucks for this freaking soup for god's sake. Turned out the broth was actually really delicious. And the meat just melted in my mouth.

But, at the back of my mind, a voice kept telling me:

"You're eating raw meat."

"There's cow blood in your soup."

I couldn't do it.

Ugh even thinking about it now makes me wanna throw up.

Nadri, who has no problem eating uncooked stuffs, tried the soup and told me I was nuts because he loved it. So I let him finish it.

Carpaccio of Hiramasa Kingfish with smoked Avruga caviar cream

Basically, raw fish with almost raw fish eggs.

*puke*

Seriously what is wrong with you people?? You might as well just grab a live fish and bite off it's flesh while it's still alive.

Nadri said it's one of the best that he ever had.

"Ok sayang, you have to try this. I swear it's really good."

"You said the same thing about the tuna belly sashimi last time. I'm not falling for it again."

"But this is different! If you try this, I'll give you RM50."

"No."

"RM100?"

"No."

"RM500?"

"I'll eat it if you buy me a Chanel bag."

That shut him up so fast haha.

Anged Angus beef with seasonal vegetable and sauce chasseur.

Now THIS, is the reason why we always go back to Sage. This steak right here, and everything else on the plate, is perfection. I have had this dish many, many times and it never fails to make me swoon every time I take a bite.

Glazed Atlantic Seabass with Kataifi Prawn and Crustacean Oil

Good, but nowhere near the angus beef.

Ginger and lime brulee with mixed berries and almond tuile

The ginger taste is pretty strong. I liked it, he didn't.

Mille feuille of strawberry with caramel ice cream

I requested to change the Cointreau ice cream to caramel. The mille feuille was just alright. Next time I'll just get the usual Belgium dark chocolate fondant. You can never go wrong with that.

Briefing

This entry is for those who have emailed me wanting to know more about working with Public Mutual. The rest can skip this :)

Since my schedule is a bit tight at the moment, and also because I feel like a broken record repeating the same things over and over again, I decided that rather than replying to you one by one, I am going to conduct a briefing where I will explain in details about the job scope and what you need to do should you be interested to join my agency.

Date: 22/08/2013 (Thursday)

Time: 8.30 pm

If you want to attend, please email me at tiahakimblog@gmail.com with the subject "Public Mutual briefing" and I will let you know where the event will be held.

After the briefing there will be a Q&A session so ask away!

A few people have already RSVP-ed so the time and date for the briefing will not change.

You can read a bit about what i do here.

For those who are coming, see you this Thursday!

Baby Drama

Rania: Alayna, I have something to tell you..

Alayna: What is it?

Rania: I finished your pasta.

Alayna: Whattt. You mean my favourite salmon alfredo?? :O

Alayna: How could you do this to me Rania?

Rania: I don't know! I was hungry I couldn't think straight..

Alayna: This is too much.

Alayna walks away while Rania looks down, feeling dejected.

Alayna mengadu kat papa. Haha.

Moments later..

Rania: Alayna, I'm sorry I finished your pasta. Let's not fight ok?

Alayna: It's ok Rania. Sorry I was a drama queen.

Rania: Let's shake hands and call it a truce.

Alayna: Ok!

The end.

My Kinda Fun

Saw this picture being circulated on Instagram yesterday and it made me smile, because this, is the story of my life.

Well, minus the drinking and clubbing. I have never even taken a sip of alcohol in my life. As for clubs, I went 5 times max I think. It's just not my scene. I'd rather stay at home in bed reading a book (nerd alert) or have a proper dinner with friends. I'm so uncool and I know it.

But anyway, the point is, the things that make me feel so elated with happiness now are so different than what they were before.

I'll give you a few examples:

Old Tia

Spends the whole day at the salon getting highlights.

Tia Now

Spends the day at the freakin zoo because I know Alayna loves the animals. Before Alayna, the last time I went to the zoo was.. Never.

Old Tia

Wakes up after 1 pm on weekends.

Tia Now

Takes Alayna to the playland on weekends, the earlier the better to avoid the crowd.

Old Tia

Goes bonkers at the mall, shopping up a storm.

Tia Now

Bahahahahahahhaha.

If the Old Tia saw this picture, she'd be like: "WHO ARE YOU WOMAN?!! Zara is just next to you, show some respect!"

Don't get me wrong, I still have to have some me time to go do girly stuffs, it's just that now I only need those things in small doses. And even if I'm out doing my thang, after 2 hours or so all I wanna do is rush home to Alayna and do this:

Daily tickling session.

Yup, don't be fooled by my konon poised pictures on Instagram. This is what I am normally like at home.

Raya Family Portrait

Like most families out there, it's a tradition for us to take a family photo for Raya. Since this year I celebrated the first day of Hari Raya in Kelantan (Nadri's dad's side), we decided to take our family portrait on the 2nd last day of Ramadhan.

Theme colour = No theme, obviously.

Hakim sisters.

Me taking selfie pictures, my sister pretending to walk down the runway and our brother laughing at our vanity. A totally normal scenario at our house.

My ridiculously skinny sister..

Make up of the day.

My fav picture of the bunch:

"Seriously, you two, please stop embarassing me."

Hehe.

I hope you guys had a wonderful Hari Raya celebration with your loved ones :)

Selamat Hari Raya!

Hello blog!

Oh how I've missed you.. :(

The past week has been totally cray cray that I had to remind myself to breathe.

And today was no exception. I was busy cooking since morning. Then some time in the afternoon while waiting for Alayna's pasta sauce to boil, I called my client to wish him selamat Hari Raya. He told me to come and see him NOW to collect a cheque.

Whaattttt :O

I was still in my PJs!

So I hung up, ran upstairs, took a 2 minute shower (a personal record), slapped on some make up, buttoned up my shirt while flying down the stairs with my car keys in my mouth, and zoomed off to meet my client.

Alhamdulillah, rezeki last day of Ramadhan :)

After that I rushed home, continued cooking, then packed my stuffs because we're leaving for Kelantan tonight for Raya. And now here I am, trying to squeeze in a few words before we go.

I think I will pass out in the car later.

Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a blessed Hari Raya with your loved ones! Be safe on the road and eat sensibly (haha yeah right).

Take care guys!!

XXX,
Tia
